The untamed beauty of Karakoram Peak lures tourists from around the world. Standing among the giants of Karakoram, Lupghar Sar is acclaimed to have the distinction of appearing as the 44th highest mountain in Pakistan and also honored to be the 108th highest peak in the world.
Traversing on the journey from Trivor Peak to Lupghar Sar was a decision fueled by a spirit of adventure and an insatiable curiosity. This enigmatic mountain is located in the northern region of Pakistan, Hunza. Lupghar Sar adjoins the Momhil Sar cluster and rises to the pinnacle of 7,200 meters above sea level. With its grand presence, its name ‘Lupghar Sar’ came from the Wakhi language, which means “top of the big rock”.
Mishi and I, driven by a passion for exploration, made a bold choice to continue the challenging terrain between these two majestic peaks. As the decision crystallized, meticulous preparations and planning unfolded. Maps were studied, gear meticulously chosen, and every detail of the trek was considered.
The trek was pre decided before reaching Trivor Peak. That’s why we conveniently resumed the journey to another quest of the peak. Each destination gives you lessons and memory and this travel became more than a physical journey. It transformed into a mental and emotional quest, demanding resilience and determination. Both of us have a thirst for discovery and were ready to conquer the towering heights and vast expanses that lay between Trivor Peak and Lupghar Sar.
As Mishi and I, the intrepid adventurers, embarked on the trail from Trivor Peak to Lupghar Sar, the landscape unfolded like a breathtaking canvas of nature’s artistry. The trek traversed through a myriad of terrains, each presenting its own set of challenges and rewards. The journey involved navigating and ascending rugged slopes that tested the trekker’s endurance.
Amidst the physical challenges, the landscapes painted a mesmerizing panorama of snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, and awe-inspiring vistas. Every step brought a new revelation, from the quiet serenity of hidden valleys to the exhilarating rush of reaching higher altitudes. The trail not only offered a physical adventure but also became a spiritual connection with the raw, untamed beauty of the mountains. This made the journey from Trivor Peak to Lupghar Sar an unforgettable odyssey.
Overcoming treacherous terrains and unpredictable weather tested the mettle of madcaps, forging a resilient spirit. As Mishi was unrealistic about the untrodden pathway of Hispar glacier, the arduous trek challenged her climbing skills. However, in the face of adversity, valuable life lessons emerged—lessons of perseverance, adaptability, and strength derived from the indomitable human spirit. As we were passionate about exploring these remote locations, we embraced the calamities of this wonderland with a smile on our faces. Because every great memory comes with its own set of trials.
Amidst the challenges and a happy-go-lucky friend’s presence, Mishi added a unique dimension to the trek. The bond of our friendship gets higher heights of happiness, and we trust each other on the trail. Eventually, it became a source of mutual support, turning moments of difficulty into triumphs of shared resilience. As the journey unfolded, it became a physical conquest and a transformative experience, marking personal victories over obstacles and fostering a bond of friendship that would endure far beyond the mountainous trails.
Approaching the mountain, Lupghar Sar marked the pinnacle of the daring trek. It was an accomplishment etched with a profound sense of triumph and fulfillment. The panoramic views from the base camp unfolded a breathtaking sight of nature’s grandeur. Surrounding majestic peaks and pristine landscapes stretched as far as the eye could see. Standing atop the elevated base camp of Lupghar Sar enveloped us in a surreal vista. Every step of the journey felt worthwhile in the face of such breathtaking beauty.
As we were setting up our camp, we encountered Tim. A young climber who had veered off from his tour group during this challenging journey. Tim, a young man from Spain, shared with us the story of how he ended up wandering in this harsh and unfamiliar terrain. Curious about his circumstances, we invited him to join us in our camp, navigating the blend of intimidation and hospitality. Tim, with a constant smile, explained his confusion after getting separated from his group. Despite our own uncertainties, we managed to conceal our fears and welcomed him into our midst.
Inquiring about our plans, Tim understood we were heading back to Gilgit and then to Islamabad. Intrigued by our itinerary, he expressed a desire to join us so he would reunite with his travel group. Mishi and I, embracing the moment’s spontaneity, readily accepted his request. We felt that this remote location could be challenging for him. Because this is the maze, it is harder to get his way back to the starting point of his journey. Both of us allowed him to join us and offered him snacks together. As the ice starts to break, we converse at great length. I made an effort to know more about him because I knew that Mishi was Pakistani, and it was hard for her to trust any stranger.
On the next day, as dawn begins, we set off to conclude the journey with our new companion, Tim. We have encaged the odyssey towards Lupghar Sar in our hearts forever. The time retracing our steps back befriended us with each other, mitigating the trust issues of Mishi. Lastly, we three exchanged our experiences we had in Pakistan. The cultural and natural beauty the country possesses is the major attraction for tourists abroad, which every explorer summons to the call of adventure.
