Eyeing to Surmount the Greater Heights of Malubiting

Traversing my journey from the Spantik Peak, the trek trail unfolds the Malubiting Peak, another humongous testament of nature. Standing as a sentinel, the clouds seem to be their guards bowing to the majesty of the Karakoram the Malubiting. We head off to the Malubiting Peak, where we pay homage to the gleaming golden peak – the Spantik Peak.

Malubiting (7,458 meters) is at a remote location in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. It has gained prominence as the second-highest peak of the Haramosh group. The vicinity of the Malubiting mountain is diverse, with its southwest side lying the Haramosh Jutial village. The east side of the peak expands the Chogo Langma Glacier. While the Indus River flows from the northern side of the Malubiting.

This unique landscape eager me to push summit the Malubiting. The mesmeric view from the top offers an exquisite view. From rotating my head, every view changes. Standing towards the south, my gaze is set on the huts farthest from the peak, but it feels like a land of miniatures. The north side enhances the beauty as well as the eerie feeling. I was compelled to grip my foot strongly on the ground. A slip can dip me into the refreshing river forever. The east shows the vastness of the frozen ice bed of Glacier Chogo Langma.

This view shows the epicness of the mountain and makes me eager to ascend it. The eye-catching view of the mountain after its summit takes my desire to even greater heights. The rugged beauty of the Malubiting mountain proves itself to be a precious stone in the crown of the Karakoram range. Boasting the 22nd highest mountain in Pakistan and the 58th highest mountain in the world, this mountain beckons tourists to summit it.

The landscape of this mountain is steep and requires adeptness in the sport of mountaineering. Ascending a mountain of seven thousand meters above is not a piece of cake. But the view after the summit compels me to try my mettle in the realm of mountaineering. Thus, with little knowledge of climbing and trekking the slippery slope, I decided to take a leap of faith and go for it. And when it comes to sheer dedication, I left no stone unturned to implement the plan. Before commencing the journey, there were some mountains where we spent our days in camps. My happiness multiplied as we headed towards the giant Malubiting.

The trek continues after visiting Spantik Peak. It was a continuation, so we were warmed up to brace for the challenges of another mountain. Stepping into the powdery landscape of Karakoram, our steps bust deep down into the snow. We continued our trek until the majestic beauty unfolded in front of our weary eyes. As we acclimatised to trek on the Spantik peak before ascending it, the route became less tricky for us.

Upon reaching there we establish the base camp at an elevation of 4,500 meters. The base camp was necessary to set up as it served as the launch point of our summit. Along with that it provides the shelter for respite and recharge ourselves to resume our odyssey. On the next day, we climb towards the peak and face the harsh weather of chilling cold. It was not an easy journey to reveal the scenic view from the peak so the price is bearing the arduousness of this mountain. The trek was very difficult, but we continued our trek and set up our advance camp around the steepness of 6,500 meters. Each step towards the journey is pure bliss because it makes our destination nearer.

The weather conditions at this steep point are unbearable; the cold gives us chills and frostbites, but the determination to ascend the mountain takes us this far, and now the journey is in its final moments. I, with my tour guide, exchange to know about this mountain because its folklore always entertains us all. Surprisingly, he told us one: this Malubiting mountain is said to have voices in its bed, which means as you get nearer to it, you feel that someone is calling you to come ahead…

As he continues more I shush him not to utter a word because that makes me haunted. The next day, we were to leave the advance camp, and I was unable to sleep. Subconsciously, my mind takes me to the thought that someone is calling me. Unbelievable to me that I had never felt this terrible anytime before and juggled between a not-going-back situation where I had to feel positive to continue further. Struggling that night, I remain half asleep. We proceeded our route to the peak the next day.

Climbing a tiresome journey, we ascend the peak of Malubiting. The heavenly view that unfolds to our eyes was an indescribable feeling. With the high winds, low temperature, and coldness of the weather, I remained undeterred for the descent soon; instead, I forwarded towards every side of the mountain to catch the pleasureful sight of Hispar valley, the Chogo Langma glacier, and the Indus River. All of the panoramic views give a surreal view to immerse in this beautiful landscape. With the impulsiveness to capture all these scenic views through my lens, I realized that this was undertaken without my camera. And this is when, after ages I just feel myself to be in the moment instead of jumping to seize the moment in my camera lens.

The journey was rough, treacherous, and challenging, but the pleasure of the watchful view has been the reason to continue it. I felt blessed to have undertaken such a soulful journey to enjoy with my friends and discover my strengths to ascend a mountain, but all of the above, this journey made me learn that sometimes nature heals you in ways that your passion will strive to do for you in years.
